Neonatal-Pediatric Tongue and Lip Ties: Diagnosis/Laser Treatment
As many as 5% of all babies born in the United States have tongue-ties significant enough to cause breastfeeding difficulties. This condition can cause a plethora of problems for both babies (difficulty transferring milk, lack of growth) and their mothers (sore or cracked nipples, mastitis and low milk supply). Babies with tongue-ties can be erroneously labeled as “lazy nursers,” “stubborn feeders” or as “failures to thrive. “In this course, attendees will receive an overview of tongue- tie assessment and treatment. A separate hands-on workshop is available.
Standard Proficiency Laser Certification Courses (2 day)
The U.S. Food and Drug Administration has cleared TWELVE different wavelengths for dental use. These wavelengths create a world of difference in how lasers operate, and their usefulness in dentistry. The workshop includes hands-on experience with lasers, performing procedures on pig mandibles. Real time videos of routine laser procedures will be part of the in-depth discussion of specific instrument settings and techniques for laser surgical procedures.
Periodontal and Periimplantitis Tissue Regeneration Update for 2018
Soft and hard tissue regeneration has always been an ideal, yet elusive goal when treating periodontal and peri-implant disease. This course will provide the attendee with a 12 step program to achieve laser-assisted periodontal tissue regeneration. This technique is also applicable to peri-implantitis treatment. Though lasers have been used in dentistry for over 25 years, and many laser companies have made many claims about regeneration of tissue, these techniques will be proven to work via case reviews and supported by a critical review of the peer-reviewed literature.
